The Greater Houston Area Mobile Music Association (GHAMMA) was established in 1993, and is operated by and for some of the Houston area's best Professional Mobile Disc Jockey's. It is the organized off shoot of an informal gathering of Disc Jockeys that held monthly networking meetings beginning in 1992.

MEMBERSHIPS
There are three levels of membership in GHAMMA: General, Associate and Limited. The General Membership of GHAMMA is made up of Disc Jockeys that are single system owner/operators as well as Disc Jockeys that own multiple system companies. Only the individual Disc Jockey himself, not the company, is a member. All members must meet certain criteria for joining the organization. The general membership of GHAMMA is the only level of membership with voting privileges. The Associate Memberships to GHAMMA are available to vendors, entertainment agents and related businesses. The Limited Memberships are available to Disc Jockeys that operate other systems owned by GHAMMA general members in good standing or are new to the business and are here to learn and grow themselves and their business by interacting with our general members.

GHAMMA is an association with an elected, six member, Executive Board. The Association endeavors to assist its members in obtaining the highest standards of professionalism in their individual performances and their company's marketing practices. It was founded to give Mobile Disc Jockeys a forum to discuss their business and to share techniques and knowledge that can assist them in doing the best possible job at the events for which they are hired. It also encourages and supports cooperation and proper business decorum within the Houston entertainment industry.

MEMBERSHIP IS NOT AUTOMATIC

GHAMMA is selective in their acceptance of members and will not tolerate members who do not adhere to proper business practices. Disc Jockeys who apply for membership status in the Association must meet certain guidelines. They must own an RIAA approved music library and the equipment, deemed by a review board to be sufficient for most Dee Jay engagements. References are submitted to, and checked by the review board. The general membership of the Association votes on acceptance if the applicants have passed review board scrutiny.

MEMBERSHIP IS NOT NECESSARILY PERMANENT

According to the by-laws of GHAMMA, any member who becomes lax in their business practices can be liable for censure and/or expulsion from the Association. A system for receiving, mediating and dealing with complaints or problems that might occur between a purchaser of entertainment and a member Disc Jockey is already set up. Members of GHAMMA are expected to: (a) attend and participate in association meetings and (b) uphold the objectives, purpose and spirit of GHAMMA.
